Frequently Asked Questions - Pro-Serve Inc.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION

What makes Pro-Serve's granular herbicides different from spray herbicides?

Our granular herbicides offer a spray-free, drift-free alternative that provides season-long control from a single application. Unlike liquid sprays, our dry application products eliminate drift concerns, reduce labor and clean-up, and work continuously as long as plants are absorbing water. This means no retreatment, better weather flexibility, less waste and more consistent results.

How long do Pro-Serve herbicides last after application?

Our products provide season-long residual control, typically lasting 6-12 months depending on the product, weather conditions, and soil type. BareGround Ultra can provide a year or more of vegetation control depending on soil and weather conditions.

Can I use these products year-round?

Yes, our granular herbicides can be applied year-round. However, best results are achieved when applied just before emergence or when weeds are young and actively growing. The products work whenever plants are absorbing water, giving you more application flexibility than traditional spray herbicides.

What types of vegetation do Pro-Serve products control?
BareSpot and BareGround products control annual and perennial weeds and grasses like Bermudagrass, Johnsongrass and Canadian thistle.  BareGround Ultra has also shown unparalleled success in a single season treatment for cogongrass. See the website product page for a more detailed listing of treated species.

PRONONE Power Pellets are designed to kill over 80 different species of woody vegetation including sweet gum, oak,  cedar, privet, hickory, sumac, mesquite, multiflora rose, tallow, huisache, yucca and even smutgrass! See the website product page for a more detailed listing of treated species

WHERE TO USE

Where can I use your BareSpot and BareGround products?

These products are ideal for bareground treatment applications in non-crop areas such as;

  • Industrial Sites – equipment storage yards, tank farms, utility substations, and maintenance areas

  • Transportation Corridors – railroad rights-of-way, highway guardrails, road shoulders, and medians

  • Utility & Energy Infrastructure – pipelines, powerline rights-of-way, wind and solar farms

  • Airports – runways, taxiways, navigational aids, and perimeter fencing

  • Municipal & Public Works Areas – pump stations, drainage ditches, and fence lines

  • Agricultural Non-Crop Areas – farm access roads, around barns, buildings and fence lines.

  • Forestry Support Sites – log yards, staging areas, and firebreaks

BareSpot Monobor Chlorate can also be used as a “prepaving” residual herbicide under asphalt paving to prevent premature breakdown of paving due to weeds.

HOW MUCH DO I NEED?

Product requirements depend on treated species and soil conditions.  See the product labels for specific recommendations for each product. https://www.pro-serveinc.com/product-documentation

HOW DO I APPLY GRANULAR AND/OR TABLETTED HERBCIDES?

Application is simple with standard spreading equipment: broadcast spreaders for large areas or hand spreading for smaller spots.  With PRONONE Power Pellets precision application is achieved by hand depositing each pellet. The best news? No mixing, no calibrating, no special equipment, and no time consuming clean-up typical of liquid herbicides alternatives.

THESE CAN BE USED YEAR-ROUND?

Yes, our granular herbicides can be applied year-round. However, best results are achieved when applied at the beginning of the active growing season.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

Are Pro-Serve herbicides safe around water sources?

CAUTION: Do not apply directly to water or areas where surface water is present. Our products can move in soil, as a result, maintain appropriate buffer distances from wells, streams, and water bodies according to label directions. Always follow local water protection guidelines.

Can I use these products around desirable plants?

CAUTION: Our herbicides are non-selective, meaning they will harm or kill any vegetation they contact. Do not apply near desirable trees, shrubs, or plants, or where roots may extend. Maintain adequate buffer zones and follow all label precautions to protect valuable vegetation.

What personal protective equipment (PPE) do I need?

While our dry products reduce drift exposure and overspray concerns compared to liquids, all loaders, applicators and other handlers must wear: long-sleeved shirt and long pants, shoes plus socks, chemical-resistant gloves, and protective eyewear. Follow all label PPE requirements for safe handling

What about animals, fish and livestock?

BareSpot and BareGround products:

  • Do not contaminate domestic or irrigation water or waters used by fish and wildlife.

  • Keep animals off treated area until rainfall has leached all the herbicide into the soil.
